Slit – for the anterior part of the eye; for detecting enemas, tumors, etc.
Fixation star with polar coordinates – for disk assessment and mapping
Large Spot – standard setting for most eye exams including red-reflex test (Brückner test)
Small spot – for smaller pupils, reduced corneal reflex compared to the large spot
Pinhole – suitable for small and miotic pupils and for checking the fovea
Hemispot – combines good view of the fundus with minimal corneal reflex
General rule: The more photosensitive the patient is, the smaller the spot you select.
